Wedding done, family has gone home and life is returning to mostly normal. I’ve had almost zero time to knit or spin in the past 10 days, but it should be on the up and up again. Excited!

Currently spinning:

No, I am not plying them together The top one I am going to attempt a three ply with itself. I’ve spun up 1/3rd of it, 2/3rds to go! The second one I have almost fully spun and will by creating a two ply with itself.

I also have what seems like 100 knitting projects to finish and start. I seriously need to get organized on this front, finish a few things and start those that may have deadlines imminent.

Still on track to open the Etsy shop by the 15th. I’m going to attempt to make a homemade lightbox for better quality photos. I have an amazing camera, just need the right lighting!

And that’s it. More updates soon with spinning, knitted treats and hopefully the announcement of the shop opening!

Gorgeous roving by Brittany of Boho Knitter Chic Spins. It is very reminiscent of the Gaga batt that I spun earlier in the year.

And here is a picture (by Sara!) of the Feet Eater slipper I made for her. The second one is still in progress, but should be on it’s way to MN this week:

They are so freakin’ adorable!

Still working on the hat, still working on the second slipper, still working on Caitlin’s slipper. Also started yet another yarn that I’m calling “Electric 80′s” since it is so vibrant. If only there were more hours in a day!

This week will be consumed by family and wedding madness. I can’t believe my baby brother is getting married on Saturday. I don’t imagine much crafty time will be had, but that’s for a very good reason.

Being sick is no fun. No fun at all. And that’s what I’ve been dealing with the past 48 hours, being sick. A head cold took over my body rather quickly early Tuesday morning and progressed throughout the morning sending me home from work and couch bound. Although being couch bound isn’t all bad when I have fiber and my wheel within my reach. I managed to finish up a yarn that was on the wheel and two others.

First off, Safari was my WIP from the last post. Now all done and two plied:

And then my second batt for the Toy Story SAL, Chunkasaurus Rex! He is corespun and autoplied with some bright yellow Sulky thread.

And lastly, Fall Sunset. My first attempt at navajo plying. Not sure I loved the technique, but I do love the colors:

I also was able to cast on the Battleboro Hat for a knit-a-long and a baby sack that I am making for a friend. Not to mention I have nearly completed the second slipper. So while feeling absolutely awful I did at least managed some “me” time to work on projects.

Hopefully the next post will include finished knitted objects!

July was insane, to say the least. It was hard to find a moment to breath, let alone a moment to update. So what have I been up to? Well, first off here are the final yarns from Tour De Fleece:

I came just shy of my 10 yarn goal. The 10th was on the bobbin, but I just didn’t have enough spare hours to get it finished. This was such a fantastic experience I can’t wait to participate again!

Since TdF I did finish a few more yarns. This is the one that was on the bobbin, Rogue Wave:

And this is “To Infinity and Beyond!” for a Toy Story themes SAL:

Most of August I’m dedicating to knitting. I started a pair of slippers for Bug (by 2 1/2 yr old), but those were set aside so I coudl make a larger pair for a swap partner. Here is a glimpse since she doesn’t have them yet:

So I’ll wrap these up today, whip up a pair for Bug and cast on a hat for a friend who has been dealing with some nasty cancer. I also need to cast on a present for a Rav friend having a baby in October. I found a pattern knit flat, I’m going to work it up in the round. A cute little sack.jumper for her little since the cold winter is rapidly approaching.

September will probably find me spinning more again. I have a TON of fiber to spin up and, well, the Etsy store is going to launch soon. No joke this time. My goal is Sept 15. I want to sell hand knit goods (mostly scarves and cowls, maybe arm warmers) and hand spun yarns. Working on the banner for the shop this week.

And that’s about it right now. A little knitting, a little spinning, really busy with life since summer means weekends at water parks and play grounds. I’m sure this fall and the cool weather will lead to much more craftiness.

Parting picture, Safari… my latest on the bobbin:

I’ve continued my progress during TdF

My Foo Fighter Yarn, Colour & Shape:

I’m extremely please with how it turned out. I think it fits the inspiration (see previous post) well.

And then the next yarn was inspired by one of my daughter’s t-shirts:

May I present to you… Blondie!

She is such a bright, fun yarn.

And how can I resist sharing the batts I got in the mail from Crafty Puppy Lover? Toy Story SAL for the win!

Rex wanted to make sure he caught his photo op since one of the batts was inspired by him.

I haven’t decided yet whether I will spin them together or separately. I’ll let them tell me when it’s time (do I sounds like a crazy lady yet?)

For now I need to finish packing and prepping for the bachelorette party that I planned for my future SAL. We’re off to Cincy/Northern Kentucky late this afternoon and will be wreaking havoc on the area all night. Watch out!

Since I am now a self proclaimed spinner I’ve decided to participate in Tour de Fleece. What is that you ask? Well, you’re supposed to spin for each day during the Tour de France. Take a rest day when they have a rest day, spin while they are riding. I’ve been successful in spinning most days, however have not had quite as much time as I would like each day. So far I have successfully completed two yarns and I have a third waiting on the mail for some add-ins:

Yarn 1- Pinkalicious!

Yarn 2- Crimson

Yarn 3- Colour & Shape (in process)

I’ve started spinning a fourth while I wait on the add-ins for the 3rd. I’m thinking about adding in silk flowers to #4, but we’ll see. I don’t know if I’m quite that brave yet

Yesterday was Worldwide Knit in Public day! I grabbed Andrea, picked up Monica (who I met at the spinning class a few months ago) and we ventured up to Polaris to take part. Fairly good turn out, I think I counted 18 people. Given the stormy weather headed our way, not bad. It was hot and it was humid, but we were not deterred. A few pictures:

I even made some new Ravelry friends, hooray! Now hopefully we can kick off a new knitting event in Dublin and make it work Fingers crossed…

And my latest completed yarn. It turned out even better than I imagined. I’m calling it Maleficent:

It’s been awhile, but I am still around and I am still spinning! However not so much knitting lately.

Since returning to work I’ve traveled to Chicago, the UK and Germany. So you can imagine that free time for crafting has been limited when you also add in a baby and a toddler Yet that will not stop me!

Here is a finished picture of my Melted Mint Chip yarn:

Apparently mine had more rust color than any of the others and I core spinning really made it pop! The scarf pattern that we were to use for the SAL I found was just not for me or the yarn so I defaulted to a cowl. It’s actually the same pattern that Carrie used for my yarn pictured in the last post:

I’ve since spun up a few yarns, but have many more in progress and not completed. The finished yarns:

Punk Rock Princess spun for Melissa (Banana Migraine) as part of a swap:

Gaga as part of a Lady Gaga inspired SAL:

Detail. This is my first time with add-ins. Dangly beads are a pain, but it turned out so fun!

In the works I have Punk Rock Princess Pt II, a bright yellow/pink/natural three ply and a peacock inspired yarn. Oh yeah, and a purple/black 2 ply. So much to spin and not enough time. Not to mention my lack of knitting!

Ultimately I hope to spin enough to open an etsy shop soon. We’ll see if I can’t finally bring that idea to fruition very, very soon.

Time to feed the baby!

This is my Burlesque yarn all knit up! Carrie (craftypuppylover on Ravelry) and I traded yarns and this is what she created with mine. My first ever finished hand spun looks beautiful! I am so in love with this cowl. I know I’ve said this before, but I feel I must say it again… Carrie totally rocks!

I need to knit up the yarn I received of hers as the trade… hmm… off to find a pattern.

During a week in which I thought I would not do much with knitting and fiber, I actually ended up churning out a lot! I finished the left panel on the never ending WIP that is my vest and I managed to spin 4 yarns in three days. I was going for 5, but I’ll settle with 4:

Magma, which is infinitely brighter in person:

Blooming Irises:

Mint Chip, this is one of two skeins:

Crashing Waves:

I really do need to either craft up my own light box or buy a little one so I can get much better pics of my creations. I think soon I may start my etsy shop and try to sell those that I do not plan to knit into a project.
